Build-to-order options include a 2.7 GHz CPU and a higher resolution 1680 x 1050 display.
The “better” version has a 2.6 GHz CPU, 8 GB of RAM, and a 750 GB hard drive. The base version includes a 2.3 GHz quad-core i7 CPU, 4 GB of system memory, and 500 GB hard drive. The Mid 2012 15-inchers also have Nvidia GeForce GT 650M graphics. The Mid 2012 15″ MacBook Pro was the last non-Retina 15″ model. Mid 2012 models include USB 3.0, which has 10x the bandwidth of USB 2.0 – and USB 3.0 drives tend to cost a whole lot less than Thunderbolt drives. This price tracker follows prices of the non-Retina 15″ MacBook Pro, all of which (unlike Retina models) can have their system memory upgraded.
Apple has moved the entire MacBook Pro line to Retina Displays, except for the remaining 13″ MacBook Pro.
